Role icons made for the Discord Networking community
Discord Networking is a platform where individuals who support Discord servers can connect, share advice, and potentially build long-term partnerships. I had joined the community during 2021 after finding out about it from Discord Moderator Discord (DMD), an official community of moderators across the platform, and invited my friends there as well.

I opted to extend this color palette across other roles, maintaining a similar level of chroma and lightness by utilizing the OKLch color space to adjust colors. I then manually tweaked the saturation levels to feel a bit more vibrant across Discord’s muted backgrounds.

While the staff didn’t exactly go with those specific combinations, the colours were introduced to a positive response from the community. Once Discord rolled out role icons publicly, I got to work making icons that represent each type of role as follows:
Left to right: Community, Developer, Artist, Familiar, Staff, Marketing, Modmail, Bots and Verified
The style was inspired by Feather icons, Font Awesome icons and Material Design icons, with some glyphs initially being based off of those. Upon introduction of new roles to the community, I further worked on and expanded the color palette to accommodate the new roles.

With the colors done, I polished up the icons and tried a few different styles, before eventually finalizing the filled duotone style.
